Twenty Recruitment is an award-winning, fast-growth international recruitment business with offices in New York, London, Berlin and Austin. Due to continued expansion, we are inviting applications for a Payroll & Compliance-Office Manager to join our team in New York City!

The Payroll & Compliance-Office Manager is a dual-role involving full spectrum human resources and office management responsibilities for our contract team. This role is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level in the following HR functional areas: HR information management, onboarding, policy implementation, employment law compliance, and contractor payroll. The office manager component of this position is responsible for overall front office activities, managing IT, large purchasing requests and facilities and liaising with our London headquarters and New York management team for any major projects.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is just as comfortable working autonomously as with a team. This candidate should be culture-focused, bringing enthusiasm to the office and offering up new ideas and programs.

Responsibilities:

Payroll/Compliance:

  • Contractor compliance/onboarding
    • Contractor onboarding  paperwork (insurance, i9’s, w4’s etc)
    • Managing references/Sterling background check process
    • Coordinating with London’s Finance team regarding timesheets/payments/Paychex (eventually this will all be handled out of the US)
    • Liaise with UK to ensure contractor information is correct and up-to-date
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Unemployment/Tax paperwork (mainly coordinating with UK)
  • Perform background checks through state and federal databases
  • Respond to requests regarding reports and onsite audits of files
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed

Office management/admin:

  • Point person for technical / IT matters/issues 
  • Building management liaison, which includes but not limited to maintenance issues, fire drills, employee building access cards, etc
  • Handles or negotiates purchasing of office supplies, furniture, office equipment, coffee, etc., for the entire staff in accordance with company purchasing policies and budgetary restrictions
  • Supervises the maintenance and alteration of office areas and equipment, as well as layout, arrangement and housekeeping of office facilities
  • Maintaining stationary/supplies
  • Keep track of office expenses
  • Bill payments (cleaning services, internet, etc)
  • Bank errands (deposits)
  • Attendance/holiday management
  • Coordinate monthly company meeting/book reviews
  • Book quarterly Biller’s lunch
  • Miscellaneous errands/ Adhoc duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (all majors welcome!)
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Superb multi-tasking skills
  • High energy level, extremely positive, and works well under pressure in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and maintains documentation on every aspect of work
  • Detail oriented with strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Motivated, team player, and quickly adapts to change
